Q: How do I switch my dog over to raw food?
A: For dogs UNDER 1 year old:
Cold turkey (pun intended)! No, but really, the sooner the better. Raw food is easily digestible when given in the proper ratios of meat, organs and bones. Our Pasture-Raised Beef Mixes are the perfect meals to make the switch and keep your fur babies optimally nutrified.
For dogs OVER 1 year old:
When transitioning adult dogs to a raw diet, it is best to let your doggy’s stool be the judge.
If your dog's stool looks firm, gradually increase the percentage of raw food with kibble from day to day. Seven days should be plenty.
If the stool is on the loose side, just slightly back down the percentage of increase until the stool is firm, and you will have your doggy transitioned in no time!
Q: If switching from kibble, how long before I see a difference in my dog's health?
A: Typically, if switching from kibble to our Pasture Raised Beef Mix diet, you will begin to notice a shinier, more vibrant coat as early as two to four weeks. Results vary, but that is the average.
If your dog was suffering from a food allergy before beginning their raw diet, it typically takes about 30 days for the food that caused the allergy to be flushed out of their system.
Q: How much should I feed my adult dog (over 1 year old)?
A: Adult dogs should be fed between 2-3% of their ideal adult body weight daily. Very active dogs and dogs that train or exercise regularly may need 4-6% or more of their ideal adult body weight daily. It just depends on how much energy is burned and thus needs to be replaced.
Q: How much should I feed my puppy?
A: 2-4 Month Old Pups:
8-10% of their current weight divided over 3 meals daily
4-6 Month Old Pups:
6-8% of their current weight divided over 3 meals daily
6-8 Month Old Pups:
4-6% of their current weight divided over 3 meals daily
8-12 Month Old Pups:
3-4% of their current weight divided over 3 meals daily
It is a good practice to keep growing pups on the leaner side rather than the chubby side. Carrying extra weight on a growing skeleton is not very healthy. They should be kept at a weight where they are active and very mobile.
Q: Are your ingredients “Human Grade”?
A: Yes, with the exception of a few ingredients that the USDA deems as “non-edible” for human consumption, such as the green tripe, trachea, lung and spleen. That is why our labels state "Not For Human Consumption."
Q: Do you use high-pressure pasteurization (HPP)?
A: We do NOT use HPP. We believe this process kills good bacteria that your doggy benefits from.
Q: Do you use any preservatives or denaturant chemicals in your dog food?
A: We DO NOT add any preservatives or denaturant chemicals to our dog foods. Our foods are all natural and pure!
Q: My vet tells me not to feed my dog a raw diet. What should I do?
A: We would recommend getting a new vet. Search for holistic vets in your area. Many of them understand raw canine diets and feed them to their own dogs for the known health benefits.
Please note: In an effort to minimize fraud, we only ship orders to the billing address provided. If you need your order shipped to a different address, we will need supporting documentation of residence at the shipping address.
Q: I am trying to place an order but my credit card is not going through. What is going on?
A: Please make sure that your billing information is correct. If your billing information is not correct, it will not go through.
Q: Is there a minimum order weight?
A: There is no Minimum Order Weight, HOWEVER, you must select the appropriate shipping service based on your order weight.
- When ordering less than 6 pounds, please select Overnight Shipping.
- Any order less than 12 pounds must select 2nd Day Shipping at a minimum.
- Any shipments with over 3 day transit and weighing less than 30 pounds must select 3 Day Express Saver at a minimum.
- We do not ship via "Ground" service East of the Rocky Mountains. This includes California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada. You must select 3 Day Express Saver shipping option at checkout. Orders over $150 will get a discounted Express Saver option.
Q: Can I get an automatic order every month?A: Absolutely. Make sure to select the Subscribe & Save option on the product page, then select the frequency in weeks and "add to cart".
Q: Can I pick up my order?
A: Yes, by appointment only.
In order to place a pick up order, please select Store Pickup or make an order note requesting a pickup appointment upon placing your order. The order deadline is Wednesday for the following week’s pickup.
Q: When will I receive my order?
A: Please allow 5-7 approximately business days to ship date. If ordering from the West Coast, please allow 7-10 business days as these orders are only shipped out on Mondays.
Order deadlines are Wednesdays for the following week's shipment. This includes adjustments to recurring orders. We typically ask our customers for a week turnaround time between order date and ship date.
If you need food in a rush, please make an order note or send us an email to expedite the order. We will do our best to get it to you when you need it.
Once your order ships, you will receive the tracking information via email.
Q: How can I save on shipping costs?
A: Orders totaling $150 or more get free "ground" shipping.
A: Do not be alarmed. Please contact FedEx immediately at 800-463-3339. They need to hear from the recipient as well as the shipper.
We pack enough dry ice and/or gel packs to keep the products’ integrity in the event of a delay.
Q: My order arrived thawed. What should I do?
A: If your order arrives thawed, providing it is at a refrigerator temperature, it is absolutely okay to refreeze and feed to your pets.
Unfortunately, we have no control over the package once it is shipped. We do not guarantee that it will arrive completely frozen. However, we make sure to pack enough dry ice and/or gel packs to keep the products’ integrity in the event of a delay.
Q: My order arrived damaged. What do I do?
A: All orders have 24 hours to claim damages once received. To claim damages, you must:
- Take pictures of ANY and ALL damages to the box.
- Take pictures of ALL of the product immediately in the box before unpacking.
- Take pictures of ALL of the product displayed in a group picture side by side.
- Send the pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org along with your order number.
We will then contact the carrier and notify you regarding what the next step will be.
Failure to follow these steps and provide thorough documentation will disqualify any claim. We need all of these pictures in order to file a claim with Fedex.
Q: Can I cancel my order?
A: Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of the order being placed. After 24 hours, orders cannot be cancelled.
